BREAKING: 148 new COVID-19 cases in Nigeria as total climbs to 2950; death toll stands at 98

Nigeria’s COVID-19 figure inched closer to the 3,000 mark on Tuesday night after the country’s centre for disease control confirmed 148 fresh infections in several parts of the country.

The NCDC said on its Twitter handle that the number of people infected by the virus was now 2,950.

Also, five COVID-related deaths were confirmed by the centre, pushing up the total fatalities in the country to 98.

There were 93 COVID-19 deaths in Nigeria as at Monday night.

Meanwhile, 481 patients have been discharged from isolation facilities across the country after they were certified medically fit by experts.

The breakdown of the new figures released by the NCDC on state-by-state basis showed the following: Lagos (43), Kano (32), Zamfara (14), FCT (10), Katsina (9), Taraba (7), Borno (6), Ogun (6), Oyo (5) and Edo (3).

Others are – Kaduna (3), Bauchi (3), Adamawa (2), Gombe (2), Plateau (1), Sokoto (1) and Kebbi (1).

The centre said: “2950 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 481 AND Deaths: 98.”
