BREAKING: 160 new COVID-19 cases as Nigeria’s total climbs to 53,477; death toll now 1,011

Nigeria on Friday night recorded 160 fresh COVID-19 cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which disclosed this on its Twitter handle, said the cases were recorded in 14 states of the federation and Abuja.

It added that no COVID-19 fatality was recorded on Friday.

Consequently, the number of deaths resulting from the virus stood at 1,011 as at Friday night.

Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 53,477.

41,017 patients have been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country by medical personnel.

The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Plateau (44), Lagos (27), Katsina (18), Edo (15), FCT (14), Ondo (10), Oyo (9) and Kwara (6).

Others are – Abia (4), Nasarawa (4), Kano (3), Ekiti (2), Kaduna (2), Kebbi (1) and, Ogun (1).

The NCDC said: “53,477 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 41,017 AND Deaths: 1,011.”
