BREAKING: 571 new cases of COVID-19 take Nigeria’s total to 32,558; death toll now 740

Nigeria on Sunday night recorded 571 fresh COVID-19 cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which confirmed this on its Twitter handle, said the fresh cases were recorded in 19 states of the federation and Abuja.

It added that 16 persons died from complications resulting from the virus on Sunday.

Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities increased from 724 to 740.

Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 32,558.

Meanwhile, 13,447 patients have been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Sunday night.

The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Lagos (152), Ebonyi (108), Edo (53), Ondo (46), FCT (38), Oyo (20), Kwara (19), Plateau (17), Osun(14), Bayelsa (14), and Ekiti (14).

Others are – Katsina (14), Akwa Ibom (11), Rivers (11), Kaduna (11), Niger (10), Ogun (7), Kano (6), Cross River (4), and Bauchi (2).

The NCDC said: “32,558 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 13,447 AND Deaths: 740.”
