86 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria; total now 627

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Sunday night confirmed 86 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

With these new discoveries, the number of people infected by coronavirus in Nigeria so far is now 627.

The NCDC said on its Twitter handle that 70 new cases were discovered in Lagos, seven in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and three each in Katsina and Akwa Ibom. Bauchi, Borno and Jigawa also recorded one case each.

According to the centre, 170 persons have been discharged from hospitals across the country and 21 others killed by the virus.

It said: “Eighty-six new cases of #COVID19 have been reported: 70 in Lagos, 7 in FCT, 3 in Katsina, 3 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Jigawa, 1 in Bauchi and 1 in Borno.

“As of 11:50 p.m. on the 19th of April, there are 627 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 170; Deaths: 21.”
