GEJ, Buhari sign fresh fair play accord

Published

on

The two main presidential candidates for the election, President Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP, and Muhammadu Buhari of APC Thursday morning met in Abuja, behind closed doors after which they signed another peace accord.

They signed the document under the supervision of former military head of state, Gen. Abdusalami Abdusalami (retd.), shortly after emerging from the meeting.

The meeting and agreement was brokered by the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections, led by Abdusalami, to extract commitment from both candidates that the forthcoming elections will be violence-free.

They were accompanied to the meeting by the national chairmen of their parties.

Other personalities in attendance were John Onayeikan, the Roman Catholic cardinal archbishop of Abuja; Sa’ad Abubakar, the sultan of Sokoto and Mathew Kukah, bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.
