Lagos forecasts COVID-19 cases may rise to 120000 by July, to begin hydroxychloroquine trials

The Lagos State government on Friday projected that COVID-19 cases might rise to 120,000 by July.

The government said the projection was based on its model of following the reported cases recorded in one day.

The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, who stated this at a press briefing, said that Hydroxychloroquine trials would likely start in a week’s time.

He also revealed that Lagos is currently manufacturing sample collection kits and is working to get more test reagents.

The briefing by the state government came a day after Lagos on Thursday recorded 183 cases out of the 381 cases recorded in the entire country for that day.
