BREAKING: Nigeria records 779 new COVID-19 cases as total hits 24077; death toll now 558

Nigeria on Saturday night recorded 779 fresh cases of COVID-19.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which confirmed this on its Twitter handle, said the fresh cases were recorded in 21 states of the federation and Abuja.

It added that four persons died from complications resulting from the virus on Saturday.

Consequently, the number of COVID-19 fatalities increased from 554 to 558.

Also, the total number of confirmed cases increased to 24,077.

Meanwhile, 8,625 patients had been discharged from various isolation facilities across the country as at Saturday night.

The breakdown of the figure on a state-by-state basis revealed the following: Lagos (285), Rivers (68), FCT (60), Edo (60), Enugu (56), Delta (47), Ebonyi (42), Oyo (41), Kaduna (19), Ogun (18), Ondo (16), and Imo (12).

Others are – Sokoto (11), Borno (9), Nasarawa (8), Abia (5), Gombe (5), Kebbi (5), Kano (4), Yobe (3), Ekiti (3), and Osun (2).

The NCDC said: “24,077 cases of #COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“Discharged: 8,625 AND Deaths: 558.”
