The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday morning affirmed Gboyega Oyetola as the winner of the Osun state governorship election held in September 2018.

The court ruled in favour of Oyetola after the parties had been earnestly awaiting the outcome of the sitting today.

The election tribunal had earlier ruled in favour of Senator Ademola Adeleke as winner.

Oyetola, his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had filed substantive appeals, seeking the setting aside of the decision of the tribunal.

Meanwhile, Adeleke had also filed a cross-appeal, challenging a portion of the decision.

It was gathered that the lead judgement was read by Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey.

There was also a dissenting judgement from one of the judges on the panel, but the majority favoured Oyetola.
