Minister Sunday Dare says the Ministry of Youth and Sports has gotten approval from President Muhammadu Buhari to open stadiums and NYSC camps for use as isolation centres amid the increasing spread of COVID-19.

Following the entrance of the disease into Nigeria, all sporting activities had been suspended, and all camps of the National Youth Service Corps were also shut down.

With the number of confirmed cases of the disease already at 65 as at Thursday night, the President has approved for the facilities to be converted into isolation centres to aid in containing the spread of the virus.

Minister Dare revealed this in a tweet on Friday afternoon, adding that relevant authorities are already being in touch with.

“Mr. President has approved for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to open and make available the stadiums in Surulere Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and Kaduna as well as our NYSC camps nationwide for use as isolation centres,” he tweeted.
