Presidential Committee orders APC to lift suspension on Okorocha

After weeks of legal battles, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificate of Return to former Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Recall that a Federal High court in Abuja last Friday directed the commission to issue the former governor the certificate.

After a management meeting, INEC on Tuesday yielded to the court order and presented Okorocha his certificate of return as Senator-elect, Imo west senatorial district.

Meanwhile, a high court sitting in Imo state, earlier on Tuesday, directed INEC not to issue certificate of return to Okorocha.

The judge, Ngozi Ukoha, gave the order while ruling on an application filed by Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliances (APGA), challenging the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Okorocha’s victory.

INEC had refused to issue the certificate to Okorocha who was declared winner of the poll after the returning officer reported that he declared the former governor winner under duress.
