Sir Mo Farah has for the third time in a row won the world 10,000 metres gold at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in London on Friday.

It’s the 34-year old’s 6th gold medal of his World Championships career.

Farah won the race in 26 minutes 49.51 seconds, just three seconds off his personal best, as Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei claimed silver and Kenya’s Paul Tanui, bronze.

Despite doping allegations against him prior to the race, Farah survived a collective effort from his rivals to claim victory, as his family joined him on the track to celebrate afterwards.

“It was amazing tonight. I had to get my head around it,” Farah said after the win.

“I tried to play with the other guys’ heads and get the crowd going. It wasn’t an easy race.

“It was a special moment for me … to have my family on the track, to let them do a lap of honour with me was a once in a lifetime moment.”

Farah also won the title in 2013 and 2015, after finishing second in 2011, and Friday’s victory surely cements his place as one of Britain’s greatest athletes.
