The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson is expected to announce his resignation as leader of the Conservative party anytime soon.

This is against the backdrop of resignation of many of his cabinet members.

No fewer than 50 cabinet members and lawmakers have announced their resignation in recent times.

“The Prime Minister will make a statement to the country again”, Downing Street spokesperson told CNN.

The prime minister in the last 48 hours has lost support among all wings of Conservative Party, suffering the resignations of his chancellor Rishi Sunak and scores of other ministers.

Few hours ago, Michelle Donelan resigned her position as the education secretary.

Johnson’s administration has been fraught with allegations of scandals, including his inability to manage the existential crises of inflation, COVID-19 and others rocking the United Kingdom.

According to the leader of opposition Labour Party, Keir Starmer, “he has been responsible for lies, scandal and fraud on an industrial scale. And all those who have been complicit should be utterly ashamed.

“Enough is enough. We don’t need to change the Tory at the top— we need a proper change of government. We need a fresh start for Britain.”
