Buffon, Messi, Ronaldo shortlisted for player of the year
Juventus’ Gianluigi Buffon, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo have been shortlisted for the UEFA men’s player of the year.
The list of players, which also includes Real Madrid’s Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, were chosen by a jury of 80 coaches and 55 journalists.
39-year-old Buffon helped his Italian side reach last season’s Champions League final but didn’t get the honour of lifting the trophy after Ronaldo’s Madrid won 3-1.

The other players who make up the rest of the top 10 are: Paulo Dybala (Juventus), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Kylian Mbappe (Monaco), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United) in that order.
The award will be presented at the 2017/18 Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday 24 August.

Forget it o, don’t be surprised Messi could win it. He also deserves it better than Ronaldo because he performed last season than others. Though I am surprised a woman like you could talk about football

I think I’d agree with you, there should be change this year. I’m tired of seeing the same set of people win every year. If not C.Ronaldo, it will be Messi, if Buffon can win this year, it will be deserving for the goalie.
