Buhari appoints media expert Dare, as NCC commissioner

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Sunday Dare, a media expert, as executive commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Already, President Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm him and other nominees into positions of chairman, executive commissioner and non-executive commissioners of NCC.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

The nominations are contained in a letter dated August 2 and sent to president of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

The nominees are, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, chairman; Mr Sunday Dare, executive commissioner, stakeholders management.

Non-executive commissioners are, Aliyu Sa’idu Abubakar, Clement Omeiza Baiye, Chief Okoi Ofem Obono Obla, Pastor Ezekiel Yissa, and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

According to Adesina, the nominations are in accordance with section 8(1) of the Nigerian Communications Commission Act 2003.
