Buhari begs BBOG for patience

In from Chukwuma Michael…

President Muhammadu Buhari has told those behind the #BringBackOurGirls campaign that he could only ask for their patience.

Buhari made the plea today when he met with the campaigners led by a former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili at the Presidential Villa.

It was the first time since becoming president that he is meeting the group campaigning for the release of the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram more than a year ago.

He said the “delayed reaction (to the kidnapping) by the former government” was unfortunate and his administration is doing what it can to rescue the girls.

Ezekwesili, who spoke after the meeting, said the strongest statement the government could make was the immediate rescue of the girls.

Meanwhile, the army has announced on Twitter that it has arrested the persons behind two of this week’s bomb attacks which killed more than 60 people.

The army, on its Twitter handle, DefenceInfoNG, wrote: “Troops have arrested a mastermind of the Jos and Zaria bombings at a checkpoint in Gombe.”

It later gave details of the arrest in a statement, saying: “The terrorist kingpin and his colleagues, who were disguised in a trailer, were fished out by troops.” The army also urged Nigerians to be “more vigilant and security conscious.”
