Buhari gives Dasuki condition for freedom

Trial of Dasuki, others for alleged N13bn arms scam begins Feb 24

If things work out as planned, embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, may soon be a free man, as President Muhammadu Buhari has given him conditions for freedom.

According to an informed top aide of the President, there are indications that the President was no longer comfortable with Dasuki’s continued detention, and may be working on ways to have him go home, if he can refund monies allegedly mismanaged under his watch.

According to the presidential aide, Buhari has given relevant agencies handling Dasuki’s cases the marching orders to recover the money he allegedly mismanaged and let him go.

“I can tell you that the President is not comfortable with the continued detention of Dasuki despite the offences he allegedly committed against Nigeria and its people.

“The only condition Mr. President has asked Dasuki to fulfill is to refund the huge sum of public funds which were allegedly diverted under his watch as the NSA.

The security aide acknowledged that “we have the approval of Mr. President to release him (Dasuki) from detention as soon as he brings the money”.

The presidential aide also said there is no truth in allegations that Buhari was determined to keep the former NSA in detention for as long as possible in order to settle old scores.

“I can tell you that it was Mr. President, who even asked us the other day why the former NSA was still being kept in detention and we told him that the three cases he had in court were responsible for the incarceration.

“He then said we have to take necessary steps to recover the money Dasuki is said to have mismanaged and allow him to return to his house,” the security aide revealed.
