For the first time after his inuaguration as President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari will host a Presidential Media Chat tomorrow, Wednesday, December 30, 2015.

The President had come under scathing criticism over his penchant for speaking to foreign media, especially when outside the country and had used them to make important policy statements.

Wednesday’s media chat will be his first since May 29 when he took over from former President Goodluck Jonathan, who made it a tradition to routinely host media chats. It is yet to be known if President Buhari will be toeing the same line.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, the President will field questions from a panel of journalists on current national issues.

Adesina said: “In the course of the programme, which will be broadcast live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), President Buhari will answer questions from a panel of journalists on a broad range of current national issues.

“The Presidential Media Chat will begin at 1900 hours. Other television and radio stations in the country may hook-up to NTA and FRCN to relay the programme to their viewers and listeners”.
