Buhari leads as counting continues today
Presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari has shot into the lead as INEC continues counting of the results from the presidential election held across the country on Saturday.
Of the results from 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, so far released, the retired general is leading with 8,520,436 votes, while his PDP opponent and incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan has 6,488,210 votes.
Buhari won 10 of the states and Jonathan eight plus the FCT. Counting continues this morning by 10am.
The states cleared by Buhari are Kaduna, Kwara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Kogi and Ogun.
Jonathan captured Abia, Anambra, Nasarawa, Enugu, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Plateau and FCT.
