Buhari may run for 2019

It takes one man to change a country from lootocracy to democracy

The presidency may have foreclosed all speculations as to whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari intends to run for a second term in office.

Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity more or less made the confirmation on Monday in a statement.

His statement is in reply to a former member of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Alhaji Buba Galadima who had asserted that Buhari would be abandoned by the electorate if he decides to seek re-election in 2019.

Shehu dismissed his suggestions that the masses will desert President Buhari in 2019 as unfounded and utterly ridiculous, and asserted that ordinary Nigerians are the backbone of his mandate and the only reason he ran for the office is to protect them against the rapacious merchants of corruption, who have held Nigeria back for decades.

The presidential spokesman, said Galadima’s calculation and prediction is utterly confused and misleading and that the masses are solidly behind Buhari because he is not stealing their money and their future.

According to him, the President’s enormous goodwill remains ever strong because the people are convinced the President is acting in their best interest, despite the temporary unintended consequences of reforms.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is far from isolation. He enjoys a very strategic relationship with ordinary Nigerians. This relationship is as solid a the proverbial rock. If Buba Galadima thinks that because he has no role and no job in this government that means president is isolated he is putting himself up to ridicule”, he asserted.

According to him, Galadima cannot speak for the masses as far as their steadfast loyalty to Buhari is concerned. While acknowledging that Galadima was entitled to advance his own political agenda, Malam Garba said Galadima didn’t have the right to decide for ordinary voters.

Malam Shehu recalled that Galadima’s disagreement with President Buhari was based on principle, and explained that President Buhari is committed to level playing field and would not want anyone to link his name to injustice.

The Presidential media aide said Galadima’s disagreement with Buhari started in 2011 when a group within the party, orchestrated an organizational mess by which the CPC embarked on the imposition and substitution of candidates for cash payments at the expense of those duly and democratically elected.

He said Muhammadu Buhari was embarrassed by the incidents and complaints about the imposition and substitution of candidates, adding that he, as a democrat, would not suppress the will of the people to please selfish interests. Consequently he dispensed with the service, such as they are, of Galadima; ran and won the 2015 Elections without them.

“Let Buba Galadima go to his constituency, stand for election and see what will happen to him”, concluded Mal. Shehu.

Mallam Shehu takes his beef for Buba Galadima public, and forgets he is representing the Presidency.

With what Dele Momodu wrote that Jonathan may run for the presidency post in 2019, Atiku has been in the news lately, criticizing economic and security activities to hint us he may also run for presidency in 2019, now it has stylishly been confirmed that Buhari too is interesting in second term in 2019. Jonathan, Atiku and Buhari contesting for the post of the president in 2019. I can’t wait to see how this will play out.

Well, truth be told, Buhari has remained the only Nigerian president who is true to his people, he has been carrying Nigerians along in all his activities. We’ve been given little doubt about his personality and this will serve as great advantage for him in 2019. Moreover, the only way to have Nigeria in perfect shape is to allow Buhari finish the good works he has started. 4 years is too small to get Nigeria to the top, giving the right man, Buhari, another 4 years will be awesome and productive to the Nation.
