Buhari not the issue, Oyegun says, as APC governors gather

A gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in Abuja Thursday had nothing to do with ailing President Muhammadu Buhari, party Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun has said.

“Our meeting has absolutely nothing to do with the health status of the President.

“What makes me happy in spite of these negative speculations and attempt to destabilize the polity is that, his respect for due process and the constituent of this nation has left a structure that is functioning very effectively in spite of his unfortunate absence.”

He added, ““One can say quite clearly that the wish of Mr President is that the government will continue to function efficiently and effectively and that the party also should continue and proceed to execute its normal duties and functions.”

Denying speculations that the party henchmen had assembled to consider leadership options in the absence of Buhari, Oyegun said that the meeting was meant to discuss the forthcoming convention.
He argued that a similar meeting, which had been held with the APC leaders in the Senate and the House of Representatives, would also be held with the ministers in the run off to the non-elective mandatory national convention.

Twelve governors attended the meeting. They include those of Bauchi, Ondo, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Kano, Edo, Sokoto and Imo as well as the three deputy governors of Lagos, Oyo and Niger States.

President Buhari has been away in UK for medical vacation since January 19.

Their meeting cannot be centered around Buhari, obviously. He is their candidate and our president, Buhari has not broken the law with his absence and from all information, despite his medical vacation, he’s still very active in decision making process of Nigeria from London.

We don’t want a decision maker but an active one.so buhari should stop making decisions and come back to the country for action

Buhari’s government is still very intact and his absence is not a threat for the country, he’s definitely the least of APC’s problems right now

You think so? Then you know nothing about Nigerian politics. He is their greatest problem right away but they will keep lying to us.

Baba buhari will be present at the Apc convention so we need not bother ourselves much again on rumours. Baba buhari is alive and he remains in charge of Nigerians

Buhari’s health matters is now so stale that whenever it comes on the news, Nigerians don’t bother reading. APC should talk about something else.
