Buhari plans new economic framework for Nigeria in response to COVID-19 disruption

As part of the reforms to stem the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the populace, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday evening declared a new economic direction for Nigeria that would require a synergy of efforts across key government ministries.

Mr Buhari said in his address to the nation: “I am directing the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Investment, Communication and Digital Economy, Science and Technology, Transportation, Aviation, Interior, Health, Works and Housing, Labour and Employment and Education to jointly develop a comprehensive policy for a “Nigerian economy functioning with COVID-19.”
