Buhari to present 2017 budget Dec14
President Muhammadu Buhari, today, said he would present the 2017 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly next week Wednesday.
President Buhari who made the revelation in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, also pleaded with lawmakers to allow him unveil his rescue plan to get the country out of its current economic recession.
It is however unclear if the National Assembly will pass the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) before the President lays the budget.

Recall that President Buhari was on the 6th of October, 2016, summoned by both chambers of the National Assembly to unveil plans of how he intends to get the country out of recession.
The President has however been silent on his summon and did not give a definite date on when to appear.
If Buhari appears, it will be the first time since the time of President Olusegun Obasanjo that a sitting president will honour any summon from the parliament.

Very funny country. 2016 budget till today has not been fully implemented and we are in December already. 2017 budget will be used in 2018. What a planlessness country is this?

I guess there’ll be more money to spend in 2017 by the time the senate approves the 2017 budget, and we have 2016 leftovers

That’s the country democracy bequeathed to us. Democracy has marred the country’s budget and the country’s economy.
I don’t like hearing of big money in Nigerian budget of which to see #1 out of it is rare. Budgets for the few.

Am sure the lawmakers will ridicule buhari if he appears to present the budget. So if he is wise, he should send a delegate possibly the clueless finance minister Adeosun.

I just hope the 2017 budget will not give birth to another grammar and drama like the 2016’s

It’s quite unfortunate that we have to hope in the prevention of such at this point of our existence as a nation. But alas, wahala must follow every budget presentation.
