President Muhammadu Buahri will on December 1, 2016, send the budget for 2017 fiscal year to the a joint session of the National Assembly

This was made known by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, at plenary on Wednesday.

This was even as the lawmakers criticised the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) that was returned to it by the presidency, after the Senate had initially rejected it.

The lawmakers lamented that the document was unrealistic based on the projections made for the 2017 budget.

The Senate however resolved not to send the documents back to the executive again, back that it was bound to tinker with the figures of the projections to make sense of the proposal.
