Buhari receives report of Oshiomhole’s ‘recklessness’ again, this time from Gov Amosun

President Muhammadu Buhari has again been asked to caution the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, over his alleged unbecoming attitude.

The Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, has also warned Buhari against Oshiomhole setting the state on fire.

Since emerging APC chairman, President Buhari has continued to receive complaints of alleged unbecoming attitude of Oshiomhole. The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, and former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, are among those that have warned Buhari against Oshiomhole.

Also on Tuesday, Ogun State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Taiwo Adeoluwa, accused Oshiomhole of fuelling the crisis rocking the state’s chapter of the party in a live television broadcast monitored in Abeokuta.

According to him, the national chairman of the ruling party was desperate to impose an unnamed governorship candidate on the state. He therefore called on Oshiomhole not to set the state on fire, vowing that the party will boycott further primaries by the national leadership.

There have been issues in Ogun State over the conduct of the state governorship primaries. The election was postponed till Tuesday but was again flooded with controversies.

However, the state SSG insisted that the gubernatorial primaries had taken place on Tuesday in all the 236 wards of the state and was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant security agencies.

Though the primary election was not supervised by the Muhammad Indabawa-led electoral committee dispatched by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Adeoluwa claimed that the consensus governorship candidate of the Ogun APC, Adekunle Akinlade, won the election.

“With all due respect, we are not known for reckless, irresponsible allegation statement, but it appears a carefully written script is being directed by the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“We told them, if you conduct primaries 100 times, this is Ogun State, we will win unless they have other plans or games unknown to us.

“We have learnt on good authority that the national headquarters of APC is determined and desperate to force a particular candidate on the people of Ogun State. We will be ready for them and we shall do nothing unlawful.

“But in view of the fact that for the past three days, our people have been keeping faith in the process, we have decided and that is what the leaders have asked me to tell the whole world that: in Ogun State, we shall not participate in any primary unless and until the NWC will specifically write to us on a date that will not shift and agree on the mode of primary.

“We decline ballot box because that is not their own guidelines. We cannot smuggle into Ogun State what has not been practiced elsewhere. We don’t know why they are desperate to disturb the peace of Ogun State,” he said.

Warning Oshiomhole not to take the people of the state for granted, Adeoluwa called on President Muhammadu Buhari and well-meaning Nigerians to help prevail on Oshiomhole not to set the state on fire.

“We must sincerely call on our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, to please call Comrade Oshiomhole to order. We would not allow anybody to take us for granted.

“We hope that the whole of our country, including well-meaning people everywhere will help to beg Comrade Adams Oshiomhole not to set Ogun State on fire. We will not go to primaries unless we have assurances,” he said.
