Buhari still exhibiting hatred for Ndigbo, group argues

An Igbo group, the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, has described the order by President Muhammadu Buhari to service chiefs to clampdown on the Indigenous People of Biafra, as a sign of the president’s hatred for Ndigbo.

President Buhari had on Tuesday ordered the service chiefs to ensure Nigeria remains one by all means. He listed the activities of the Boko Haram terrorists and IPOB among others as things the Nigeria security forces must not tolerate.

But responding to the order, ECA’s secretary, Evangelist Elliot Ugochuchukwu-Uko, said it was not a surprise that such a directive is coming from Buhari, who according to him hates Ndigbo.

“We are not surprised; it is part of the hatred. He can lump IPOB together with ISIS. We even expect him to change the name of Enugu to Islamabad.

“We are asking that Nigeria be restructured. Those killed before were not armed and did not commit any known offence.

“What we are saying is that Nigeria must be restructured, nothing more and nothing less. It is part of Buhari’s hatred for Ndigbo but we are resolute that Nigeria must be restructured.

“IPOB is not a terrorist organization and we are not surprised with this horrifying decision,” he said.

The IPOB is one of the groups in the South-East part of Nigeria demanding for the independence of the region from Nigeria.

The leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, is currently undergoing trial over alleged treasonable offences.

He was granted bail in April this year under conditions many described as very stringent. Already he has been accused of flaunting those conditions.

Kanu and his group are currently campaigning that there will no longer be any election in the South-East region, beginning from Anambra State which governorship election comes up November 18, until Nigeria Federal Government, declares a referendum for Biafra.
