Buhari swears-in Tanko as CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari In Wednesday swore-In Ibrahim Tanko as the substantive CJN following his screening and approval by the Senate.
President Buhari swore him in at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, a week after the confirmation of his nomination by the Nigerian Senate.

This was revealed via the Twitter handle of the Presidency.

The Senate had a week ago, approved Muhammad’s appointment as the substantive CJN following Buhari’s letter to that effect.

After the suspension of the former CJN, Walter Onnoghen, over asset declaration offenses, Buhari had on January 25, appointed Muhammad as acting CJN.

Onnoghen was subsequently relieved of his office, and Buhari on July 11, wrote to the Senate and requested the lawmakers to speedily consider the confirmation of Muhammad as substantive CJN.
