Buhari tells Nigerians to expect a tough second term
After securing his re-election bid during last Saturday’s presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his next four years in office as Nigeria’s leader will be tough.
He revealed this when members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) paid him a congratulatory visit on Friday.
“My last lap of four years, I think is going to be tough. People are very forgetful and that’s why during the campaign I spoke about our cardinal agenda,” he said.
Buhari was on Wednesday declared winner of the Saturday, February 23 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He scored 15,191,847 votes to defeat his chief challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 11,262,978 votes.
The meeting on Wednesday where Buhari hinted on what to expect from his next four years in office was attended by vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and over 20 ministers.

FEC members at the meeting presented Buhari with congratulatory cards.
