After Buhari's 152 days in London, N3.2bn budget, Aisha demands probe of Aso Rock clinic

The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has bemoaned the state of Aso Rock Clinic and wondered what would be happening in government owned hospitals across the states of the nation.

Lamenting that the clinic in the country’s seat of power is in such a sorry state that you cannot “find a single syringe” Aisha wondered “what happens across the states to governors wives if this will happen to me in Abuja.”
Mrs Buhari who called for a probe into the clinic’s finances also wondered how a N2.3 billion budgeted for the clinic was spent.

Her complaints are coming on the heels of her husband spending about 142 days on medical tourism to London where he went on two occasions for treatment.

She stated this in Abuja on Monday at a stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Nutrition, Child Advocacy and Health and Nutrition, RMNCAH+N, at the State House.

Narrating how she recently fell ill and was asked to travel to London for treatment but she refused, President Buhari’s wife said, “I called the Aso Clinic to find out if they have an X-Ray machine. They said it’s not working. In the end, I had to go to a hospital owned and operated by foreigners 100 per cent

“There is a budget for the Hospital (Aso Rock Clinic) and if you go there now, you will see a number of constructions going on but they don’t have a single syringe there. What is the purpose of the buildings if there are no equipment there to work with?”

Lamenting she added, “You can imagine what happens across the states to governors wives if this will happen to me in Abuja.”

Earlier, Buhari’s daughter, Zahra had also criticised the management of Aso Rock Clinic. In a post on her Instagram page, the daughter of the President had lambasted the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Jalal Arabi, for apparent failure to provide even Paracetamol tablets to the clinic not minding a budget of N3 billion for the provision of drugs to the hospital.

Recall that the management of the clinic had last week hinted that it was moving to commercialise the clinic to enable it operate efficiently.

I genuinely will not fall for this! If Aisha didn’t fall ill, she wouldn’t call for Aso Rock Clinic’s probe. If she had said this before her sickness, I would have supported her.

I honestly don’t know what the management at Aso rock clinic is doing if they’ve don’t have syringe, Buhari should call all of them to order and probe them.

It’s exaggeration for Aisha to say that, her frustration and beef is the X-ray machine that wasnt working when she need to utilize it

They are not doing anything. Those people are just there to get their piece of the National Cake without working for it. The money budgeted for the hospital, where did it go to? They all need to account for it and explain why the clinic is in bad state

If aso clinic is bad, which hospital in Nigeria is now going to be good? The problem with Nigeria’s medical system is from the top. What is the minister of health doing? Nothing!
