BUHARI’S RETURN: Ekiti APC challenges Fayose to act on his threat and commit suicide

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose was on Monday mocked, and asked to go ahead and commit suicide by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and coalition of civil society groups.

The group, who trooped to the streets of Ado-Ekiti to celebrate the return of President Muhammadu Buhari after 103 days in London for a follow-up medical treatment, claimed that the governor had threatened he would commit suicide if Buhari should return to Nigeria hale and hearty.

But available records shows the governor was  never quoted to have made such a statement.

Fayose had while Buhari was in London claimed that the president has been on a life support since June 6 and vowed to publish pictures of him to prove his claims should the Presidency continue to lie to Nigerians about the true state of President Buhari’s health.

But after Buhari, who earlier this year spent 49 days in London returned on Saturday, after spending another 103 days, the group took to the streets to celebrate his return and to taunt Fayose.

Among the group apart from APC and civil society groups were artisans and Okada riders. They marched from Oke Iyinmi to APC secretariat, chanting various derisive and mockery songs against Governor Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

APC acting chairman in the state, Kemi Olaleye, who addressed the celebrants, said that God has shamed those wishing Buhari death.
Insisting that Fayose should make good of on his threat to commit suicide since Buhari has returned to Nigeria hale and hearty, Olaleye said, “Mr Fayose has turned himself to propaganda-in-chief, but we are happy that God has shamed those who thought President Buhari won’t return alive. With this rally, the end has come to Governor Fayose’s reign in Ekiti.

“The good people of this state are not in support of Fayose’s action, because we are cultured and compassionate people. Look at the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, he went to Abuja to welcome the president back to Nigeria. That was a show of maturity, why was our governor not learning from this?

“We are solidly behind President Buhari even beyond 2019. And we are pleading with Nigerians to discountenance whatever Fayose has been saying against the president. He was not speaking for us, he only spoke for himself.”
