BUHARI’S RETURN: Major cabinet shake-up likely this week

Published

on

President Muhammadu Buhari has concluded plans for a major overhaul of his administration, reliable sources in government told SUNDAY PUNCH over the weekend.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject, said the changes were going to be ‘earth-shattering’ because a few of the President’s powerful aides and prominent members of the administration would be affected.

Findings also revealed that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is likely to be affected by the changes.

A senior government official, who preferred anonymity said, “In the next few weeks, we are entering the second half of this administration. I can tell you that a major cabinet reshuffle is on the way. Ministerial vacancies for Kogi and Gombe states would be filled, while there would also be an exchange of portfolios.

“Some junior ministers, whose relationships with their senior counterparts are not smooth would also be redeployed.”

A source within the administration, who is privy to the details of the planned changes, said the country would soon witness greater synergy between the President and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. The source added that under the new scheme of things, the President intends to assign more important national duties to Osinbajo.

Nonsense speculations. The one that is the most fake is that of Emefiele, he is not going to be relieved of any duty nor given other appointment. Well the week has started and we get to see the presaged cabinet shake up. That of Gombe and Kogi is certain that it must be bridged as it is a gap in the executives.

Let the speculator keep saying nonsense, Buhari cannot change anyone in his cabinet, everyone held the country tight while he was away, is relieving them of their duties going to be Buhari’s way of compensating all of them? Don’t let’s waste our time thinking change of cabinet would happen

It won’t happen because buhari has to make use of his head before making decision that will make him regret his actions.Buhari should allow it be the way it is instead of thinking on how to change the cabinet

Amaechi, Lair Mohammed, Adeosun are likely to be affected too. They will be relocated to other ministries.

From what source did you get that from? Any minister it affects are ministers who performed below expectations when baba buhari was away. Amaechi performed well so he has no problem at all and even Lai except for Adeosun.

I think it’s a little to late for Buhari to change CBN governor, Emefiele. He started poorly, no doubt, but this time, he’s been working well and impressive. Changing him may cause disorderliness in the system
