DSS invites Apostle Suleiman

It seems that after bungling a mid-night attempt to abduct Apostle Johnson Suleiman of Omega Fire Ministry from a hotel in Ekiti State, the Department of State Security Services (DSS) has formally asked him over for interrogations on Monday.

Suleiman had been caught on video making inciting statements against Fulani herdsmen after claiming that he had information they were plotting to elimate him.

He was rescued from immediate arrest by Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State who was the host governor in a crusade organized by his church

It was learnt that he was asked to be at the DSS office in Abuja for interrogations on Monday January 30, by 10am.

Following the reported killings of over 800 Southern Kaduna Christians by suspected Muslim Fulani herdsmen and other similar killings across the nation, Apostle Suleiman in the video which went viral was heard telling members of his church in Auchi, Edo State, to resist the killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who he alleged are targeting Christians for decimation.

The DSS had subsequently traced him to Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, where he had a-two-day crusade. The efforts of the security officers to arrest him around 2am in a hotel in the state was however foiled by Fayose and security men in the hotel.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buha, Shehu Garba, had earlier on Monday called on security agencies to consider arresting Suleiman for his utterances.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ ad Abubakar, has also made similar calls, asking security agencies to arrest any religious leader preaching hate messages.

However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in a statement on Friday called on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to intervene in what it said is a clampdown on churches across the country, adding that it was no longer comfortable with the vice president’s silence on the matter.
