BURKINA FASO: Jihadist group kills 17in 3 separate attacks

Security forces in Burkina Faso are having a torrid time trying to thwart the activists of terrorists in the country after revealing that no less than 17 people were killed on Sunday in three separate attacks.

Government spokesman, Remis Fulgance Dandjinou said in a statement that the attacks in the north left nine people dead when dozens of gunmen attacked Komsilga village, staying there for several hours.

He also added that seven others were killed in Deneon village, and a soldier died elsewhere.

Hundreds of people have been reportedly killed in northern and eastern Burkina Faso in the past few years, mostly by jihadist groups.

A special operation was launched in May in response to the violence, but security has not improved in the West African country which has its fair share of attacks by insurgents.
