Bus crushes 8-yr-old twins to death in Abeokuta

Tragedy struck in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, when a commercial bus crushed two children of the same parents to death on their way to school in the Ita Oshin area of the town.

According to an eye witness account, the accident, occurred at about 8am while the children were on their way to school.

The bus was said to have lost control and ran over the students, killing two of the children who were twins and injuring a third, an elder brother.

An  eye-witness said sympathisers took the corpses of the 8-year- old twins and their injured 14-year-old brother to the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro.

The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Adegoke Adetunji, who confirmed the accident, blamed the driver for dangerous driving, saying that he lost control and ran over the children.

“We gathered that the Toyota Picnic bus with registration number KTU 175 DZ was coming from Sango,” he said.

He also revealed that the driver, who tried to escape, has been arrested by the police and taken to Lafenwa police station in Abeokuta.
