Bus crushes street hawker trying to escape KAI officials
Tragedy struck on Ikorodu road along Maryland, Lagos today when a street hawker unfortunately lost his life while trying to escape Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials who engaged him in a hot chase.
An eyewitness said men of the KAI force chased the street hawker along the Maryland bridge in an attempt to enforce a subsisting street hawking law and while trying to avoid being caught, the hawker ran into a BRT bus which crushed him to death.
Reports say the incident attracted other angry hawkers and area boys who showed solidarity following the death of one of their own by destroying all BRT buses in sight while also rioting in the process before the situation was brought under control by army and police officers.
