CAC eases business registration hassles, achieves 48-hour milestone

Nigerian government’s resolve to ease huddles faced by businesses in the country has received a boost with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) claiming that Nigerians can now register their businesses within 48 hours.

This was disclosed by CAC Registrar-General, Mr. Mahmud Bello, during the commission’s Customers’ Forum in Lagos organised in collaboration with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

He explained that CAC has implemented series of reforms this year, adding that the innovations have made starting businesses in Nigeria “quicker, cheaper and more convenient.”

Bello said, “The CAC as an agency of Government involved in the startup of business has strongly keyed into the vision of the Federal Government to make Nigeria a progressively easier place for businesses
to start and thrive.

“Our reforms are designed with the MSMEs in mind. For us, the Customer is King and must be treated with royalty.”

At the event’s live technical demonstration session, CAC took the participants through how registration can now be made faster and more convenient using online medium.

It also said that its paper-based manual incorporation process would be gradually phased out in the course of the year, starting with Lagos and Abuja where all submissions must be done online from April 30.
