Get Eagles World Cup ticket or go, NFF reminds Rohr of his mandate

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr lost the crown of the Best Coach in the continent to Egypt’s Hector Cuper at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards Gala held at Accra, Ghana on Thursday night.

The Franco-German technician joined Nigeria’s men national team in 2016 and led the team through a tough group to seal qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

But his Egyptian counterpart, Cuper, led his side to the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon, where they finished as first runners-up after being defeated by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the final.

The Super Eagles were also contenders for the men’s category of the National Team of the Year, but the award went to the Pharoahs of Egypt for finishing second in the Nations Cup and also reaching the 2018 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s U-20 women team, Falconets failed to win the Women’s National Team of the Year award, as South Africa’s Banyana Banyana grabbed the title.

In other awards, Patson Daka of Zambia was crowned the Youth Player of the Year, Mauritania’s Football Association president, Ahmad Yahya, was awarded Football leader of the Year, as Morocco’s Wydad Athletic– CAF Champions League winners– won Club of the Year.
