#CAFCC: Enyimba handed heavy defeat in Congo

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Enyimba were beaten 3-O by Congolese club Atletique Renaissance Aiglons (CARA) in their group stage matchday two encountee on Wednesday.

Two-time African champions Enyimba were seeking to extend their unbeaten run in the competition and consequently maintain their stay at the summit of the group.

But the game, played at Stade Alphonse Massamba, Debat, saw the home side go three goals ahead in the first 19 minutes of the clash.

Racine Louamba opened scoring for the Congolese in the 14th minute, before Cabwey Kivutuka and Dicha Lema netted two quick goals in the 17th and 19th minutes respectively.

Enyimba fought hard to reduce the deficit afterwards but were unable to breach the hosts’ defence.

The Peoples Elephant could also have conceded more goals but for goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who made a couple of important saves in the second half.

Paul Aigbogu’s men who defeated Djoliba of Mali 2-0 on matchday 1.

The Aba club will be looking to recover from Wednesday’s defeat when they face Ivory Coast’s Williamsville on matchday 3.

Djoliba will host Williamsville in the other Group C game later on Wednesday.
