Cameroon sacks 500 Nigerians for failing to pay N70,000 levy

No fewer than 500 Nigerians, residing in the various parts of Bakassi, ceded to Cameroon, have been sent packing.

The Cameroonian authorities were said to have identified Nigerians unable to pay a N70,000 levy each and immediately drove them out, using maximum force.

Some of the affected victims on Thursday raised the alarm that more than 500 of them were finding their way back to the border town, Ikang, in the Nigerian territory, a journey said to be tortuous and dangerous.
