Reps direct SEC to take over Capital Oil

Chairman/CEO of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Uba has been declared winner of the Anambra South senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to results by INEC, the oil magnate who contested on the platform of the Young Progressives Party defeated the incumbent Senator of the area Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his younger brother of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to clinch the seat.

INEC’s declaration of Ifeanyi Ubah as the Senator-elect of the district now ends what the people of the area describe as “Uba brothers’ senatorial dynasty”.

Recall that the Uba family had held sway on the senatorial seat of the area since 1999 with the eldest of them all, Dr Ugochukwu Uba being the first to occupy the seat; followed by Andy Uba.

To emerge the winner, Ifeanyi Uba also defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Nicholas Ukachukwu who had defeated Bianca Ojukwu in the APGA’s primary to become the parties Senatorial candidate in last Saturday’s election.
