Super Eagles duo, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi played against each other as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Arsenal in a Carabao Cup semi-final encounter at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
Both teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Premier League last week but had a much tighter encounter tonight as many chances were missed.
Iwobi had an attempt from range in the 38th minute only to see his shot punched away by Thibaut Courtois, as Moses also went close for Chelsea in the second half.
Late in the game, Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas went down inside the area following a challenge by Danny Welbeck but referee did not award the penalty thanks to the decision of the video assistant referee (VAR).
Meanwhile, this is the fourth meeting between both teams so far this season with Arsenal winning on penalties in the FA Community Shield while the home and away clashes in the league ended in draws.
The second-leg of the tie comes up on January 24 at the Emirates Stadium, and the winner on aggregate will face either Manchester City or Bristol City in the final.
