Chelsea defeated Tottenham on penalties after their Carabao Cup semi final tie ended 2-2 draw on aggregate, as they reach final.

The Blues lost 1-0 in the first leg but won 2-1 in the second before winning the penalty 4-2, and will face Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday 24 February.

Eric Dier and Lucas Moura were the players who missed from the spot for Spurs.

Chelsea are into their 15th cup final in 16 years. It will be the first domestic final between Manchester City and Chelsea.

When asked about the final, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri said: “We will try but it’s really very difficult against Manchester City. In my opinion City are the best team in Europe so it will be very difficult, but of course we will try.”

For Mauricio Pochettino, his players will shift focus to their FA Cup race, as they battle Crystal Palace this weekend.

He said: “We won at Wembley. They beat us here. I’d prefer to lose on penalties [than in the game]. Congratulations to Chelsea. We’ll keep going in the FA Cup game against Crystal Palace.”
