Cassava flour meal kills mother, 3 children, 2 neighbours

A mother, her three children and two neighbours, reportedly died in Ogaminana, Okene, in the the Adavi Local Government Área of Kogi State after eating a cassava flour meal.

It was learnt that three of the victims died on Monday at their homes while the remaining three died on Tuesday at the Okene General Hospital, Kogi State.

The mother had on Sunday, October 30, brought the cassava flour from her farm at Ohuepe village and have arranged dinner from the cassava flour for herself, other members of the family and shared some of the food with her neighbours.

The victims had reportedly gone to bed after the meal but developed severe stomach pains over the night which the suffered from and died.

The woman and her two children were the first to die, and the neighbours being suspicious that their sudden deaths could be as a result of the cassava flour meal, quickly rushed the remaining three victims to the Okene General Hospital, where they also died.
