Senate may dump grazing bill

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, will on October 5, 2016 know if his fresh application to stop his trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, will   be allowed.

This is just as the Danjuma Umar-led CCT has fixed September 21 as the day it would deliver judgement in the case involving a  former Minister of the Niger Delta, Elder Godswill Orubebe.

The tribunal is expected to rule on Saraki’s motion to suspend his trial on 16 count charges.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had dragged Saraki before the tribunal alleging that he made false/anticipatory declaration of assets, operated foreign accounts while in office as Kwara State governor between 2003 and 2011, as well as collected governorship salary four years after his tenure had elapsed.

In a similar vein, the CCT, Monday, fixed September 21 to deliver judgement on the case brought by the Federal Government against a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe.

The FG had dragged Orubebe before the CCT on a one count charge of failing to declare his ownership of a property locate at Plot 2057 Asokoro District, Abuja.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations at the CCT, Mr. Ibraheem Al-Hassan.

According to the statement, the CCT chairman, Danladi Umar, has okayed the matter for judgment in a notice signed by a Principal Registrar, Victor Isibor, for Director Legal Services Department.
