Jibrin tours ICPC, EFCC, DSS to incriminate Dogara, others

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a letter warning Abdulmumin Jibrin from making any further statement against Yakubu Dogara over his alleged budget padding.

Lawal Shuaibu, APC deputy national chairman, north, stated this in a letter to Jibrin on Thursday.

The letter reads, “As you are aware, the party, and indeed the government, has not been happy over the recent development in the house of representatives over the issue of the 2016 budget. We found it embarrassing to have to deal with another new phenomenon you tagged ‘budget padding.’

“Arising from the series of meetings we held with you over the subject matter, the national working committee had decided to request you to henceforth avoid issuing any public statement on this matter. This includes statements through social media or other means of transmitting an opinion on the matter to the public, as the party is now looking into it towards finding possible solution.”

Jibrin, former chairman of House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, on July 21, threw the first bomb, alleging that Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representative, his deputy, Yusuf Lasun, Chief Whip Alhassan Doguwa, and Minority Whip Leo Ogor colluded to illegally insert about N250bn into the 2016 budget, which he tagged budget padding.

Since then, he has continued to raise varying accusation against Dogara and the three others he referred to as the Speaker’s corrupt gang.

Jibrin has also submitted petitions to the offices of anti-graft agencies and Department of State Security (DSS), in Abuja to ask for Dogara and others’ prosecution.
