Juventus have won a record seventh consecutive Serie A title after a barren away draw to Roma, who ended the game with 10 men as Radja Nainggolan was sent off, at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The visitors were without Gianluigi Buffon in goal, but rarely looked like conceding as they held out with relative ease to move on to 92 points, four clear of Napoli with one game remaining.

Second-placed Napoli won at Sampdoria also on Sunday, but a point was enough to give Juventus their 34th top-flight title.

Juventus had on Wednesday won the Coppa Italia, and Sunday’s Serie A title means coach Massimiliano Allegri has led the side to win the Italian double in each of his four seasons in charge.

“I am happy because the lads closed this chapter and we have another week to rest. It’s been really tough and we have to compliment Napoli, as they kept the pressure on to the end and won at Sampdoria this evening,” Allegri said after the game.

“We work hard, but when it’s time to celebrate after four extraordinary years, it’s right that everyone celebrates. It’s for everyone we worked with at the training ground, the fans too, but the lads are the real protagonists.”

The champions will play their last game at home against Hellas Verona next weekend.
