UCL: Osimhen scores in Lille defeat; Chelsea draw Ajax in 8-goal thriller

Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen scored his second Champions League goal on Tuesday but it was not enough to hand Lille victory at Valencia.

Osimhen’s 23rd-minute goal got the Ligue 1 side ahead but their hosts came from behind to win the game 4-1, and boost their chances of reaching the next round.

In the other game of Group H at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea played a thrilling 4-4 draw with Ajax – a result that pegs both sides, alongside Valencia, on 7 points each.

The Blues mounted a stirring fightback from 4-1 down to earn a crucial point as their Dutch opposition ended with nine men on a night of high drama.

For the group, the battle for the round of 16 among the three teams will be a tough one with only two games remaining, while Osimhen’s Lille is almost sure of crashing out.

At Anfield, Liverpool climbed to the top of the group E after defeating KRC Genk 2-1 as second-placed Napoli failed to beat Salzburg, who held them to a 1-1 draw in Italy.

The Jurgen Klopp side are on nine points, one more than Napoli; while Salzburg are on four and Genk, one.

In Group F, Super Eagles star, Peter Olayinka was in action as Slavia Prague held Barcelona to a goalless draw at Camp Nou.

Barca however retained top spot after Dortmund came from two goals down to beat Inter Milan 3-2 in Germany.

In group G, RB Leipzig are leading the pack with nine points as the Bundesliga side defeated Zenit Petersburg 2-0 in Russia, followed by Lyon, who saw off Benfica 3-1, on seven points.
