CHAN Eagles to report to camp July 16

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has fixed July 16 to resume camping for player invited for the African Nations Championship qualifier.

This is coming after Eagles’ Chief Coach, Salisu Yusuf, on Monday, invited 30 players for the clash against Benin Republic or Togo; a list already approved by the football federation.

Paul Bassey, a member of the NFF committee, who doubles as Akwa United chairman, assured necessary moves will be made for the quick release of players.

“By the coach’s programme which we have approved, the players will report to Kaduna on July 16,” Bassey was quoted to have said on Tuesday by Daily Post.

“We have told them to write officially to the clubs, pleading with them to be patriotic by releasing their players on July 16 because training starts on July 17.

“We [technical committee] will liaise and interface with the LMC on how we can work with the league fixtures. We have to work with him to make sure those players are released.”

Nigeria finished third place in the 2014 edition of the tournament, and will begin the race for a higher place when they face either Togo or Benin away on the weekend of 11th – 13th August.
