CHAN: Ezenwa to captain Home Eagles

The Home-based Super Eagles will be captained by FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, a choice made by the team coach, Salisu Yusuf.

This was announced Wednesday via the Super Eagles verified Twitter handle, which also stated that Enyimba FC defender, Chima Akas will function as the assistant captain.

“Coach Salisu Yusuf names Ikechukwu Ezenwa as Captain and Chima Akas as Vice-captain of the CHAN team,” the Super Eagles handle tweeted.

The preparation for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier is already underway, as the team began their training camp on Tuesday in Kano.

The team will face Benin Republic on August 13 for the first leg of the qualifier.

The return leg comes up on August 19 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

The winner of the tie qualifies for the Championship finals, which will hold from January 11 to February 2, 2018 in Kenya.
