Group launches 'Remain And Restore' campaign to counter #ResumeOrResign protests

Despite the heavy downpour in Abuja on Monday, Nigerians, majorly youths, led by Charles Oputa, known as Charlyboy, made good their threat to protest over the continuous stay of President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
The group which gathered under the umbrella of a civil organisation, Concerned Nigerians, started their Monday protest from the Unity Fountain in Abuja. They demanded that President Buhari must immediately return from London or resign.

It is 92 days since Buhari returned to London on May 7, for a follow-up treatment. He had earlier spent 49 days in London on medical vacation between January and February this year.

Speaking during the protest in Abuja on Monday, the group convener, Deji Adeyanju, said they will march to the Presidential Villa to call for the resignation of the President Buhari.

He added that the protest will continue tomorrow with a sit-out at the Unity Fountain until Buhari either returns or resigns.

According to Adeyanju, the Concerned Nigerians group will each day gather by 9am to 10am to continue their protest.

“The president cannot continue to remain in London infinitum. Osinbajo cannot continue to function as an Acting President Infinitum. Charlyboy leads protest to demand for Buhari’s return or resignation. You can imagine what happened after the Anambra attack, the Presidency issued a statement, they did not allow Osinbajo to take charge.

“Same with the Sallah celebration, they also released an audio in Hausa for all Nigerians. Osinbajo was not allowed to take charge. They are holding the country to ransom. It is not by force to remain a president. It is also time Section 144 is activated.

“Snapping picture is not a prerequisite for fitness, we must as a matter of urgency call on the president to resume or resign”, he stated.

CharlyBoy, who said he was at the protest to demand for the resumption or resignation of President Buhari, added in his speech at the event, “Our mumu don do.”
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force in several police vans and on top horses were seen at the event trying to ensure there was no breakdown of law and order.

Constitutionally, he should be removed after 90 days but this is Nigeria where the law is a mirage. The law only work favour the rich at the expense of the poor

Law works in a country where there’s a law, what we have in Nigeria is a book written for the sake of it. Nigeria is not a country to stress oneself for, it has lost its value because of bad and selfish leadership. Biafra is the only solution for Nigerians who still want to make good use of their lives

The constitution is silent in that regards because there is an acting President though you can only act in capacity of 90 days but what if they brought in buhari in the 89 Day and stay for two weeks then later went back and another 90 days begin afresh, let’s just be patient

Few weeks ago, they sais Buhari will return soon, they sent delegations to London to go and snap picture so that Nigerians can believe Buhari is recovering. Is it recovering that we want to eat? Now where is the Buhari who they said would be returning soon?

Amen. But what has his protest achieved? The issue of Buhari is beyond what we envisage because nothing can remove him as president of Nigeria except death.
