Chelsea return to winning ways, thrash Leicester City 3-0

League leaders Chelsea FC have resumed with their winning style after thrashing current League title holders Leicester City 3-0 on Saturday.

The Antonio Conte’s side had seen their 13-game winning streak ended in a 2-0 defeat by Tottenham in their last Premier League game, but Saturday’s win means the Spurs defeat remains their only defeat since the end of September, 2016.

Though the Blues were without their top scorer, Diego Costa, after a training ground dispute over his fitness, amid reports he has been offered a lucrative move to China, the saga did not affect their performance at the King Power Stadium.

When asked about Diego Costa’s absence and the speculations in some quarters that he might be on the move to China, Conte said the forward only suffered some pains during training and that he’s not aware of any China move for the Spaniard.

“Diego stopped his training on Tuesday because he felt a pain in his back and from that moment he didn’t train,” said the Italian manager.

“In this situation, you can listen to a lot of things. In my experience as a coach if there are the problems you solve them in the changing room not the press conference. I don’t know anything about the reports of Costa to China. The truth is what I told you before,” he stated.

Chelsea will host struggling Hull City on Sunday, 22 January, while Leicester City will travel to Southampton on the same day.
